Delivery
What evidence to keep when a parcel is missing or damaged
Gather evidence for a claim if tracking shows delivery but your parcel is missing, the contents are damaged or an item is missing.

Start an evidence record as soon as you notice the problem. Save the order and parcel references, the carrier’s tracking number, the delivery timestamp and the itemized receipt. Claims procedures depend on the carrier, service and who booked the shipment, so ask the agent or carrier who can file and which deadline applies. UPS claims guidance
If tracking says delivered and you have no parcel
Check the carrier’s proof of delivery, including any photo, signature, pickup-point name or stated safe place. Check with reception or your household when the delivery details point there. If the carrier image or location looks wrong, save it and describe the mismatch without posting the tracking number or your address publicly. Ask the agent or carrier to open a trace against that delivery event. USPS missing mail guidance
If the parcel arrived with damage or missing contents
Photograph the label, the outer carton from several angles, the inside packing and the items you received. Keep the original packaging and damaged items available for inspection. Compare the received contents with the agent’s packing list and identify each missing or damaged line, quantity and amount paid. USPS asks for evidence of value and damage in its domestic claims guidance, and the service you used may request different documents. USPS claims guidance
Keep one record of the case
Include the evidence when you first contact support, then save the ticket number and the next response date. If both the agent and carrier are involved, ask which one will submit the claim and share the case number with the other. iTaoBuy Help Center
